In District 5 alone, the area around Kim Bien market including Go Cong, Van Tuong, Kim Bien, and Phan Van Khoe streets has over 70 establishments selling wholesale and retail industrial chemicals.

These facilities are both trading places and chemical storage facilities. The premises are small but contain many types of chemicals in large quantities, causing unsafe fire and explosion prevention, seriously affecting people's health, so it is necessary to build a chemical center.

According to Mr. Hoa, the center is expected to chemistry will be located next to Phong Phu Industrial Park, with a scale of about 11 hectares, and detailed planning will be completed by the end of 2016.

The Department of Industry and Trade expects that if the project is approved, the site clearance and construction of the center will be completed and put into operation by the end of 2017.

“When there is a center chemical business, the City's flavor market will no longer have the function of trading chemicals, there will be no warehouses or chemical products.

“Stop selling all kinds of chemicals at this market, especially toxic chemicals. This is not only a story of fire and explosion but also the health of the city’s people,” Mr. Tuyen directed.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the Departments and branches to soon complete the project to build a chemical center following a multi-purpose business model serving both domestic and foreign markets, ensuring standards and reaching regional stature.

Not only trading chemicals, this location must also be planned as a warehouse to help businesses store chemicals to ensure safety requirements, ending the situation of chemical warehouses located in residential areas that the state cannot control.

In addition, the center also has the function of organizing exhibitions, consulting businesses, introducing new technologies and products in the chemical industry.
