The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just issued an urgent document announcing a plan to organize road passenger transport activities in the city, supplemented by the Prime Minister's directive on 15-day social isolation to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic.
Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City will temporarily suspend the transport of passengers on fixed routes, buses, taxis, contract vehicles (including contract vehicles with less than 9 seats using technology), and tourist vehicles operating in the city for 15 days, starting from 0:00 tomorrow (April 1). In special cases for official business reasons and cases of providing food, foodstuffs, and essential necessities, vehicles transporting workers and experts of enterprises and transporting production materials are still allowed to operate.
However, these trips must fully meet the requirements: disinfect the vehicle before and after picking up passengers; do not transport more than 50% of the seats on the vehicle and no more than 20 people on one trip; drivers, service staff on the vehicle, and passengers must wear masks and undergo medical examination before departure.
The Department of Transport requested inter-provincial bus stations to inform fixed-route passenger transport businesses and people to arrange appropriate travel plans.
Thus, all public transport activities in Ho Chi Minh City will be temporarily suspended.
