HOW TO PRODUCE CHLORIDRIC ACID

Hydrochloric acid, commonly known as hydrochloric acid, is a strong inorganic acid gas that is soluble in water. When exposed to moisture, the gas forms white fumes that corrode metals and then form hydrogen (a flammable and explosive gas). The product has many applications in

HOW TO PRODUCE CHLORIDRIC ACID

Most hydrochloric acid is produced in Europe and Japan as a by-product of organic chlorination, with an estimated 20 million tons of HCL produced worldwide each year. There are several methods of producing hydrochloric acid.

Methods of synthesizing elements

This method directly synthesizes chlorine and hydrogen gas to produce high purity products. This process takes place in a combustion chamber and is supplied with chlorine and hydrogen gas at temperatures above 2000 degrees Celsius.

Reaction with metal chlorides

This method is widely used in laboratories because pure hydrochloric acid can be obtained. This method uses sodium chloride Nacl reacting with sulfuric acid H2SO4 or hydrogen sulfate.

Chlorination method

Pyrolysis of 1,2-dichloroethane to vinyl chloride, 90% of hydrochloric acid is produced by this chlorination method

Chlorination of alkanes

Exchange reaction with chlorine radical with HF

Synthesis of tratrafluorotene from the pyrolysis of chlorodifluoromethane.

Applications of Hydrochloric Acid in industry and life

– Production of inorganic salts and basic chemicals
Hydrochloric acid (HCl) is widely used to prepare important inorganic salts such as calcium chloride (CaCl₂), iron (III) chloride (FeCl₃) or nickel (II) chloride (NiCl₂). These are chemicals that play an important role in water treatment, electroplating and many other manufacturing industries. In addition, HCl is also an intermediate in many industrial-scale chemical reactions.

– Rust removal and cleaning of metal surfaces
In the metallurgical and mechanical processing industries, hydrochloric acid is often used to remove rust, iron oxide adheres to the metal surface before being put into processes such as rolling, welding, coating or electroplating. Using HCl helps the metal surface become clean, smooth, increasing the adhesion of the protective coating.

– Washing glass bottles and industrial equipment
Diluted HCl solution is strongly acidic, capable of dissolving inorganic dirt and minerals stuck in glass bottles or production equipment. Therefore, HCl is often used in brewery, beverage factory and food processing industry for cleaning and disinfection.

– Tanning, dyeing and electroplating industry
Hydrochloric acid plays an important role in leather tanning, dyeing and metal plating. HCl helps adjust pH during leather treatment, supports degreasing and facilitates the even adhesion of dyes or metals to the product surface.

– Food processing and additives
In its pure form, hydrochloric acid is used in Food Processing such as the production of monosodium glutamate (MSG), soy sauce, fish sauce and many other additives. HCl is also used in the hydrolysis of vegetable proteins to create amino acids - raw materials for the production of spices and pharmaceuticals.

– Petroleum and chlorine-based chemical industry
In the oil and gas industry, HCl is used to treat wells, helping to dissolve limestone layers, releasing oil and gas flows. In addition, HCl is also a raw material for the production of chlorine-based organic compounds such as vinyl chloride, dichloroethane - important precursors in the production of PVC and polymers.
