Chemicals used in wastewater treatment.
When polymer is added to wastewater, the following stages occur:
– Colloidal particles are adsorbed by polymer and are no longer stable, a process called flocculation.
– The broken colloidal particles will stick together into small cotton balls, then into larger clusters and settle, called flocculation.
Anionic Polymer Chemical (Anionic Polyacrylamide) – With the application of polymer, the sludge after treatment is thicker and less, and can be treated directly. In addition, using polymer also changes the pH very little and increases the salinity very little. From there, it shows the versatility and convenience of polymer in wastewater treatment.
Principles of use:
SPECFLOC Polymer anionic flocculant is used in the following solid-liquid separation processes:
– Mechanical decomposition – treatment of inorganic sludge to increase efficiency, recover solids and improve quality
– Settling ability – improved flocculation results in faster settling speed
– Coagulation – helps to settle inorganic molecules and coagulate organic molecules
– Water filtration – improves water quality by reducing suspended solids in water
– Dissolves air bubbles – resulting in clearer flow and greater efficiency
– Filtration – improves water quality and plant capacity
– Remove phosphate in wastewater
These are some of the main applications. Many benefits can be gained by applying these products to any liquid-solid separation process.
Health and safety:
These products may cause irritation and discomfort to eyes and skin. Wear protective equipment when handling them.
Preservation:
– The corrosive and destructive properties of these products are similar to the corrosive and destructive properties of water.
– Materials used to store these products: stainless steel, fiberglass, plastic, epoxy
– Materials that should not be used to store these products: iron, copper and aluminum
– Shelf life is 24 months when unopened and in a dry environment, temperature below 40 degrees Celsius
– Note: Polymer beads are very slippery, so collect and clean with water.
Application:
Depending on the water treatment field, we use different Anion Polymer and Cation Polymer:
– Surface water: The best polymer is anionic or has very few cations, because in water there are many positive ions such as Fe, Mn ions…
– Industrial wastewater: for treatment, people often use anionic polymers combined with inorganic coagulants.
– Urban wastewater: Use inorganic coagulant polymer combined with anionic flocculant.
– Drying sludge after treatment: Inorganic sludge requires anionic flocculants, cationic flocculants are suitable for treating organic sludge. The amount of polymer needed for water treatment is very small, only about one thousandth. If too much polymer is used, the water will become very viscous, hindering the next treatment steps. In addition, the excess polymer in the water will increase COD. Therefore, when applying polymer, it is necessary to conduct practical tests to choose the appropriate dosage.
