Zinc chloride is the name of the chemical compound with the formula ZnCl 2 and its hydroxides. Zinc chloride, of which nine crystalline forms are known, is colorless or white, and highly soluble in water. ZnCl 2 itself is hygroscopic and even the chemical will dehydrate. Samples should therefore be protected from sources of moisture including water vapor in the surrounding air.
