(A. cupric sulfate), CuSO4.5H2O. Bright green crystals; density 2,284 g/cm3. Soluble in water. Partially efflorescent when exposed to air; above 100oC, begins to lose water and crystallize; at 220oC, forms a white anhydrous salt; at 720oC, decomposes completely into CuO and SO3. Toxic. Anhydrous CuSO4 strongly absorbs water. Used as a pesticide, color fixative, electroplating agent, algaecide, fungicide, herbicide, etc.
