– Oxalic acid is used in some household chemical products, such as some detergents and in rust removal.
– Oxalic acid solution is used to restore wooden furniture because it removes the dry surface layer of the wood to reveal the new wood underneath.
– Is a mordant in dyeing technology.
– Volatile oxalic acid is used by some honeybee keepers as a pesticide to kill parasitic Varroa mites (Varroa destructor).
Oxalic acid irritates the intestinal mucosa when consumed, and can be fatal in large doses. The LD50 of pure oxalic acid is estimated to be approximately 378 mg/kg body weight, or approximately 22,68 g for a 60 kg person.
